The Norwegian skier Henrik Kristoffersen won today’s 1st slalom of the Europa Cup in Pamporovo. This is the 1st win with such a rank for Kristoffersen. He finished with combined time of 1:36,86 minutes. Second on 0,52 seconds behind him finished Naoki Yuasa from Japan and third Fancois Place from France. The 1st run leader, Sergey Maytakov (RUS) missed a pole and had to come back, which left him on 28th position in the overall standings. Deyan Todorov took the 27th place, 11.03 seconds behind the winner. That is personal best in the Europa Cup for the 29 years old Deyan.
68 competitors took part in the race 28 of which reached the second run. Among those who missed finishing was the silver medalist from Torino Olympics Reinfried Herbst from Austria.
There was a heavy snowfall, but a hard work from our race director’s team and the hosts of Pamporovo PLC made the event happen.
The words of the top three:
Henrik Kristoffersen (NOR): I am more that happy. This is the biggest victory in my career and my first podium and win in the Europa Cup. It happened to be that I am the youngest competitor. Pamporovo will aways stay in my memories. This was the best and most steep piste I have skied on. Here is the best organized Europa Cup competion I have taken part in. Organization, snow conditions and the hosts are just great. I will think of a more serious presence in the World Cup next season.
Naoki Yuasa (Japan): I am happy with my 2nd place today and a bit surpriseed cause next to me is the winner who is 11 years younger than me. This motivates me even more for the 2nd slalom tomorrow.
Francois Place (FRA): That is the first podium for the Europa Cup in my career. I am not pleased with my skiing in the first leg because I made a lot of serious mistakes. In the second leg I improved my skiing, which help me in finishing among the top three competitors.
