Herbs Collecting
The Rhodopi mountains are also an important place for amateur mushroom-gatherers and herb-gatherers. While you walk around the mountain, you can fill your basket with delicious edible boletus, suillus mushrooms, parasol mushrooms or chanterelle, as well as you may pick a fragrant bouquet of herbs here.
Springtime, the green meadows are full of motley, fragrant flowers and many orchids. There are also flowers which can be seen only in this part of the world-namesakes of the Rhodopi mountain like Rhodopi lily (Lilium rhodopeum), Rhodpi violet (Viola rhodoopeia) and Rhodopi tulip (Tulipa rhodopea). Early in the spring, you can also enjoy the blossoming pink florets of the Rhodopi silivriak flower, which has the unique property to blossom out after keeping it in your herbarium for years!
