The mountain resort Pamporovo is located about 250 kilometers away from Sofia City and 80 kilometers away from Plovdiv City-the second biggest city in Bulgaria and there are operational international airports near both cities, servicing regular and chartered air flights. The holiday resort is located 10 kilometers away from Chepelare town and 15 kilometers away from Smolian town-an administrative district center and this resort is situated in the heart of the Rhodopi mountain. You can go to this mountain resort only by road vehicle-as the main roads to the holiday resort are the international road E71 Assenovgrad-Smolian or Devin-Smolian. It is expected that in the beginning of January, year 2010 a checkpoint at the border with Greece will be opened near Zlatograd town and in the beginning of year 2011 another checkpoint at the border with Greece will be opened near Rudozem town. Pamporovo is the nearest ski resort to Istanbul City and to north-east Greece.
